Our Team.
The Sheboygan Outreach Collective is a group of collaborative agencies and organizations trying to reduce access barriers to resources for our community members within Sheboygan County. The Collective is a mix of like-minded individuals that are incredibly diverse and skilled in their respective fields.
Why Sheboygan Outreach Collective?
When I began my position as a Positive Youth Development Educator at UW Madison Division of Extension in Sheboygan and met with community members to discuss the needs of Sheboygan youth, I heard the same concerns repeated over and over.
Resource organizations were not reaching community members in need; Sheboygan lacked a central referrals hub; and youth of color desired cultural mentoring and enrichment. Karina Aguirre (co-founder) and I had been discussing partnering to provide programming to under-represented youth. We presented the first event, then called Familias Unidas, hosted by Sheridan Elementary School, to support family needs and begin building community relationships that could lead to youth involvement.
Since then, we’ve been so fortunate to meet and share leadership with other community change agents in what is now called Sheboygan Outreach Collective; a partnership working to identify barriers to accessing community resources, especially those related to wellness.
We are now inviting youth to partner with us as Youth Advocates for Community Health; an opportunity for youth to work with adult mentors from their communities in advancing health equity, cultural exchange, and other focus areas to be identified by the youth. I am grateful for the chance to extend my work as a UWSP Faculty Fellow in Diversity and Inclusion to this endeavor as I also apply my experience as an educator in providing a structure for youth voice in action. Please email me at golda@wisc.edu to ask about youth leadership opportunities!

Karina Aguirre has lived most of her life in Sheboygan County, enjoying what country life has to offer. She has a bachelor’s degree in communications and Spanish from Lakeland University.
Throughout her life, she has been working with nonprofits from youth services to health equity services. Currently she is the Community Services Coordinator at Partners for Community Development. Through her role, she is able to work for her community and other communities to find a safe environment for all.
Shortly after she started at Partners, she met Lisa Sanderson. They found that they could work together to bridge the gap between the community members and the many services Sheboygan has to offer. From that conversation, Familia’s Unidas now Sheboygan Outreach Collective, started. Although it is a new idea to Sheboygan, Sheboygan nonprofit network has responded well and has supported Sheboygan Outreach Collective efforts. Karina plans on continuing to build Sheboygan Outreach Collective while also enjoying her job at Partners.

He has over 13 years of experience working in the non-profit organization in a refugee resettlement program. His role was to help the new refugees learn the language, work skills, and find a job to support their families. He is a bilingual community health worker at Public Health. He helps people access resources in the community.

Nenglee has seen that it is difficult for Hmong/ South East Asian domestic abuse and sexual assault victims to access community resources and services due to the language challenges; therefore, the Sheboygan United team is committed to make this happen by bring providers in the community to the people who need the services. Nenglee is glad to be part of the team!
